Tick Tac Toe Board

I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for things to keep the kids busy! Nothing speaks to me more than crafty and cheap games that'll occupy my children's time! Tic Tac Toe is the perfect way to do just that. We are constantly drawing boards on paper, so when my husband had this 12 X 12 tile hanging around, the light bulb went off! I didn't want to spend any money on my new idea since I have come up with so many : ) Thankfully, we had everything on hand.

To make this board, you will need to adhere your masking tape equally apart in two lines vertically and two lines horizontally. Then take your tile to a well-ventilated area and spray it with spray paint. After the board dries, which is usually pretty quick, you can remove the tape, and voila! Your permanent Tic Tac Toe board is done! Then take your nine smooth stones and acrylic paint and paint your X's and O's. Once the rocks and board are dry, you're ready to play! This board was practically effortless to make and has gotten a lot of action in our house.

Materials:

12 x 12 Tile

Masking Tape

Nine large flat stones

Spray Paint

Black acrylic paint and brush

Since this board has been such a hit, I have decided to implement it into our homeschool curriculum. My first grader is currently trying to master reading, and I thought this would add some fun to mastery. So I wrote words on sticky notes and added them to the empty squares. This way, when we play, we'll have to say the word and use it in a sentence. No tears while practicing... win, win!
